Prime Minister Narendra Modi is just out of time at the G-20 summit due to the influx of demands for bilateral meetings from significant allies and close partners. At 6:45 p.m. today, PM Modi returns from the ASEAN conference in Jakarta.

Due to the pressure of time, both US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina are practically traveling directly to PM Modi’s house on Lok Kalyan Marg on Friday evening.

PM Modi meets with Big Leaders

There is a good chance that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have “pull aside” meetings with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and EU leaders during the summit on Saturday. This is because the bilateral window between PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron’s lunch on September 10 will be closing soon.
The onerous task of scheduling talks on a priority basis currently undertaken by close advisors to PM Modi, including Sunak, who dedicated to the India-UK FTA, and QUAD allies Kishida and Albanese. On September 11, the PM will receive Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, a key ally of India, for a state visit; there will be no other bilateral meetings that day. In addition to these engagements, PM Modi will make time to see UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, a close friend and ally.

The Indian leader would hampered by the fact that he will holding sessions at the global summit, despite the fact that Bharat Mandapam has the resources to allow PM Modi to conduct bilateral talks and pull away efficiently inside the G-20 location.

However, India and the US are anticipating a significant bilateral encounter between Prime Minister Modi and US President Biden, maybe over dinner. The two parties are attempting to revive the civilian nuclear contract as part of the clean energy drive. The meeting takes place after the US Congress authorized the GE-414 engine deal of 100% manufacturing TOT transfer with HAL.
