In a recent release, the Indian Air Force formally announced plans to purchase about 100 more LCA Mark 1A fighter planes produced in India, supporting the domestic aerospace industry.

When the first C-295 cargo plane arrived in Spain, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari of the Indian Air Force made an exclusive announcement about it to ANI.

At the Airbus aircraft production plant, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari stated to ANI that “The LCA created from the ground up for replacement of the massive MiG series fleet including the MiG-21, MiG 23, and MiG-27 aircraft. We must have a sufficient quantity of LCA class aircraft in our inventory due to the phasing out of all of these aircraft. Therefore, in addition to the 83 LCA Mark 1A that we have already ordered, we are advancing a case for perhaps 100 more aircraft.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) intends to replace its fleet’s MiG-series fighter fighters with these made-in-India aircraft. The Defense Ministry and all other parties involved in the national security apparatus have received the blueprints.

Last month, the head of the Indian Air Force met to discuss the indigenous fighter aircraft program with all partners involved, including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. At that time, it decided to acquire a further 100 of these aircraft.

The order would result in a veritably significant re-up of LCA Tejas aircraft for the Indian Air Force. In the upcoming 15 times, the IAF will have 40 LCA, more than 180 LCA Mark- 1A, and at least 120 LCA Mark- 2 aircraft.

The initiative served as the forerunner of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the national Make in India initiative. More significantly, it is a symbol of India’s aerospace industry dependence.
