Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. India’s clear answer to US President Donald Trump who is eager to mediate on Kashmir, is that this is not going to happen. The old game on Kashmir is not going to work. For India, the only issue that matters is to take back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) from Pakistan. If there will be a discussion, it will be on this, and for this Pakistan does not even need to take help from any third country.
This statement has been made by a senior official of the Indian government. Its importance is because US President Donald Trump is very eager to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir. Trump is not only trying to take full credit for the ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan on Saturday but is also trying to establish himself as a peacemaker in South Asia.
The government believes that ‘India’s policy on Kashmir is very clear. There is only one issue pending regarding Kashmir and that is taking back POK. If Pakistan wants to return the Kashmir occupied illegally, then it can do it directly to us. There is no need to talk to anyone else about this.’
Indian sources admit that representatives of the US administration were in constant touch with India since the beginning of Operation Sindoor but there was no discussion with them on Kashmir. India does not consider it necessary. To end the tension that arose after Operation Sindoor, India had repeatedly made it clear to the US at the highest level that if Pakistan stopped firing, India would also stop, if it continued firing, India would also stop.
