Prime Minister Narendra Modi Lok Sabha passes women’s reservation bill by 454 votes to 2 Thanks MPs For Their Support

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that he is “delighted” over the passage of the women’s reservation bill by the Lok Sabha and thanked all the MPs who voted in support of the legislation. Calling the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ a “historic legislation”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “It will boost women empowerment”.

“Delighted at the passage of The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Lok Sabha with such phenomenal support. I thank MPs across Party lines who voted in support of this Bill. The Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is historic legislation which will further boost women’s empowerment and will enable even greater participation of women in our political process,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The 128th Constitutional Amendment Bill was passed after voting. Several members namely Asaduddin Owaisi, Hibi Eden, N.K. Premachandran, Sougata Ray, A.M. Ariff, and E.T Mohammed Bashir had moved amendments but did not pursue them.

Earlier, several members Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Smriti Irani, Mahua Moitra, and many others participated in the discussion on the bill.

Indian field hockey player Rani Rampal feels that the increased participation of women will help the nation achieve faster growth and expressed happiness over the Women’s Reservation Bill being passed in Parliament. Rani visited the new Parliament building and thanked the government for giving her the opportunity and highlighted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in encouraging women in every field. “Today is a very auspicious day as we got the chance to visit the new Parliament building. We would like to thank the Government of India for this. We are very happy that the Women’s Reservation Bill is being passed,”
