In an unprecedented move, the Trump administration has revoked Harvard University’s eligibility to admit international students. The administration says it is using its authority to prevent Harvard University from admitting international students.

The administration has informed the university that it is taking this step as part of an ongoing investigation into the university by the Department of Homeland Security. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has written a letter to the university saying that its ability to enroll international students has been terminated.

Kristi Noem ordered her department to end Harvard University’s student and exchange visitor program. The move means Harvard can no longer enroll international students. Existing foreign students will have to relocate or lose their legal status.

“Our administration is holding Harvard accountable for promoting violence, and anti-Semitism on its campus, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party,” Noem said. It is a privilege, not a right, for universities to enroll foreign students and profit from their high tuition fees.

Last month, Noem wrote a letter seeking a detailed report by April 30 on illegal and violent activities by Harvard’s foreign student visa holders.

President Trump wrote on his social media platform, “We are going to take away Harvard’s tax-free status. They deserve it!” This announcement by Trump has come at a time when there is tension between the government and Harvard over DEI policies and protests inside the campus. Earlier, the government had frozen Harvard’s $ 2.2 billion grant and contract because it refused to change its admission and employment methods, even though the government had asked it to do so.
