On Saturday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said that attempts made to sway Mahua Moitra, a Trinamool Lok Sabha MP, into supporting Darshan Hiranandani following his decision to become an approver in the ‘cash-for-questions’ controversy. The new accusations made when Mahua Moitra acknowledged in a television appearance on Friday that she had been using Darshan Hiranandani’s Parliament log-in since 2019, but that she had written the questions herself and that Darshan’s team had just assisted her in typing them onto the website.

Mahua Moitra denied claims that Darshan Hiranandani paid for her home’s renovations during the interview and displayed the plans for the government housing she was provided by Darshan. Mahua also requested a list of the said gifts from Darshan Hiranandani, claiming that the only things her industrialist friend gave her were a scarf, cosmetics, and a car pick-up and drop in Mumbai.

Even before she was an MP, Mahua Moitra called Darshan Hiranandani a personal friend. Mahua Moitra remarked, “The affidavit reads like a government press release.” As the Trinamool MP stated that there is no set policy about who allowed to enter into Parliament and who is not, and that typically MP teams post the queries, Nishikant Dubey stated that each MP must complete a form committing them to keeping their login information private. After the interview, Jai Anant Dehadrai claimed he felt vindicated and understood why he given “my kidnapped dog Henry in exchange for taking back my CBI complaint.” “This is what happens when quid pro quo becomes a way of life,” Jai said on Twitter.
