Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that his government was investigating “credible allegations” that Indian government agents were linked to the slaying on June 18 when Nijjar was gunned down outside a Sikh cultural center in Surrey, British Columbia.

India today summoned a Canadian envoy, after which it expelled a senior Canadian diplomat, asking him to leave the country in 5 days. This comes shortly after Canada expelled RAW station chief Pavan Kumar Rai in Ottawa amid allegations linking the Indian government to the assassination of a Khalistani activist. India also rejected allegations made by the Canadian government linking it to the assassination of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar calling the allegations.

Biden ‘highly concerned’ over India-Canada diplomatic row

US President Joe Biden was reportedly “highly concerned” over the diplomatic row between India and Canada amid Ottawa’s claim that its citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed on Canadian soil by agents linked to the Indian government. The US has expressed concerns over the incident and deteriorating relations between India and Canada on the issue, US media reports said. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who had a rough time in Delhi during the G20 summit hearing accusations of harboring pro-Khalistan terrorists on its soil, alleged that agents linked with the Indian government had assassinated a Canadian citizen Nijjar — designated as a terrorist in India — on its soil and expelled an Indian diplomat.
