How do deepfakes work?

“Deepfakes taught to recognize face characteristics using a large number of images and videos. The two purposes of this software, a neural network, are to create face-swapped films and to identify such adjustments, as previously stated to LiveMint by Dr. Sunil K. Shekhawat, CEO of SanchiConnect, a business that supports several deep tech firms.

“These networks, which called Generative Adversarial Networks, or GANs, improve through a tug-of-war in which one side tries to trick the other,” he stated. It becomes harder to identify if a video is authentic or has edited by this clever software as the system improves.”

What is a deepfake?

Experts proposed that irregularities in physical appearance, inconsistent facial emotions and eye movements, and audiovisual disparities can all be indicators of deepfakes.

Pradeep Yadlapati, Senior Vice President, India Country Head & APAC SBU Head for Innova Solutions, told LiveMint that among of the areas that need to enhanced include detection, forensic algorithms, audit processes, and the personnel needed to reduce this risk.

Yadlapati says that enterprises may reduce the danger to genuine network users by implementing tougher verification procedures like multi-factor authentication, zero-trust, and investing in technologies to identify deepfakes. Stricter rules for the usage of artificial intelligence (Gen AI) and standards for watermarks created by AI can also improve the authenticity of material.

The founder of Synersoft Technologies, Vishal Prakash Shah, suggested that individuals utilize human-generated content instead of artificial intelligence.
