Delhi’s Air Quality Remains ‘Severe’ for the Third Consecutive Day

As per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR)-India, the overall air quality in Delhi remained in the ‘severe’ category on Saturday morning for the third consecutive day. At 8:30 am, the national capital of Delhi’s overall air quality (Overall) had an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 416, placing it in the “severe” category according to SAFAR statistics.

As to SAFAR data at 8:30 am, the AQI of Delhi University was 435, while the airport at Terminal 3 recorded an AQI of 456, Noida at 492, IIT Delhi at 432, and Gurugram at 435, all falling into the’severe’ category. Pusa and Lodhi Road are two examples of areas with AQI scores that fall into the “very poor” category, with 395 and 385, respectively. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board shows that the AQI in Wazirpur was 442, in Rohini 415, and in Anand Vihar 448.

A layer of haze was visible above the city in the most recent ANI drone camera footage from the ITO area.

A different local voiced alarm as well, saying, “The pollution situation is horrifying.” The AQI, which is visible, will not be 400–500. It’s generating a lot of problems; occasionally, breathing becomes difficult, and the eyes burn. The respiratory system also impacted.”

On Thursday, GRAP Stage-III also put into effect in the nation’s capital. The Respirer Report states that since 2021, Delhi has been steadily increasing its PM (Particulate Matter) 2.5 levels, with the city having the highest levels in the nation in October. An official meeting at Raj Niwas conducted by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday to examine the situation.
