BRICS Day-2: Meeting between PM Modi and South African PM

On August 23, during Day 2 of the 15th BRICS Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a private meeting with President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa. Later in the day, in Johannesburg, the prime minister will also take part in both open and closed plenary sessions.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will host a banquet supper and cultural performances after the plenaries. On the first day of 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg dialogue took placed between the BRICS Forum Leaders.

PM Modi stated in his address at the BRICS Business Forum Leaders’ Dialogue that India’s economy will soon surpass $5 trillion and act as the main engine of growth for the planet in the years to come. India has emerged as the main country with the fastest pace of growth, despite the fact that the global economy is in trouble, Modi added.

PM Modi’s distinctive contribution to the discussion is that mutual trust and transparency, particularly in the Global South, may help have a huge influence.

Meanwhile, Ramaphosa asserted that because Africa has an urbanized population and can provide a reliable labor force in the future, the BRICS countries have an opportunity to contribute to and participate in the continent’s economic narrative.

“The people of Africa are youthful, moving into cities, and using the internet”. A population that will provide businesses with dependable labor in the future. According to the President Ramaphosa claims that “the investment in skills is expanding.

Addressing Global Challenges

The Leaders Retreat, where the group’s leaders would examine recent international events and determine how to use the BRICS platform to confront and address current global challenges, was attended by PM Modi shortly after the Business Forum in Johannesburg.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva all showed up to the occasion.

As a ray of economic optimism, BRICS offers a fresh global order that challenges the dominance of long-standing institutions.
