Dream Girl Hema Malini married Dharmendra in the year 1980. Hema Malini was one of the top actresses of the 70s and 80s. She used to get projects one after the other and she used to be very busy. At the time of her marriage, she was shooting for ‘Kranti, ‘ which was a superhit. This film was directed and produced by Manoj Kumar. ‘Kranti’ was a multi-starrer film. Manoj Kumar had put everything at stake in making it. Hema was also shooting for ‘Razia Sultan’ in those days. Her stardom was immense at that time. Every actor and director wanted to cast her in their film.
Manoj did not like this unprofessional attitude of Hema at all. He scolded Hema Malini and, as a punishment, made her sit on the set without any work for the whole day. Hema went back home in anger. Hema was apparently giving more importance to ‘Razia Sultan’ because she felt that this film would be a hit. But when both the films were released, ‘Razia Sultan’ did not perform well while ‘Kranti’ was a superhit.
When Razia Sultan director Kamal Amrohi found out about this, he called Manoj, who told Amrohi that Hema should have taken permission from him before working in any other film. Manoj said that he was not told that she was shooting for any film other than Kranti. However, there is another story behind this.
