After days of intense airstrikes in the region around the Gaza City complex housing thousands of Palestinians. Israeli soldiers invaded al-Shifa Hospital. Early on Wednesday morning, the Israeli military said that it was conducting a “operation against Hamas in a specified area” near al-Shifa. It described the attack as a “targeted operation” against the biggest hospital in Gaza. Said that American and Israeli information served as the basis for the operation.
The organization that controls Gaza, Hamas, accused by Israel of utilizing the hospital as a base. Hamas disputes the assertion. Israel has not provided any proof to support this claim. According to Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, who reporting from Khan Younis on Wednesday. Dozens of Israeli soldiers entered the building as tanks positioned in the hospital complex’s yard. He stated that the operation “is considered to very risky and dangerous as there are around 7,500 Palestinians inside the hospital, including patients, doctors, and displaced people.”
Israeli soldiers examined the basement of al-Shifa and penetrated the surgical and emergency facilities within the complex, according to Dr. Munir al-Bursh, the general director of hospitals in the Gaza Strip, who spoke with Al Jazeera. Within the facility, Dr. Ahmed El Mokhallalati, a surgeon, reported hearing explosions and heavy gunfire coming from the compound. He told Al Jazeera, “We saw the [Israeli] tanks and the bulldozers on the center’s campus.”
According to Mokhallalati, there are still over 700 patients at the hospital, with about 100 of them in severe condition. Over a thousand medical personnel also stranded at the location, but they lack the supplies and gasoline necessary to treat patients.
