Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak has received his first letter of no confidence since dismissing Interior Minister Suella Braverman. The Member for Rishi Sunak’s party, Andrea Jenkyns, sent a sharp letter to Sir Graham Brady, the head of the 1922 Committee, accusing him of “getting rid of our democratically elected leader Boris Johnson” and stating that “enough is enough”.
“As if having a party leader that the members of the party rejected wasn’t awful enough, the polls show that the public also rejects him, and I wholeheartedly concur.” Rishi Sunak should step down now,” she stated on X (previously Twitter).
The removal of Boris Johnson was “unforgivable enough,” but she added that she had sent a letter of no confidence to Rishi Sunak “to stand up and fight for true Conservatism” and that “to purge the centre-right from his cabinet and then sack Suella who was the only person in the cabinet with the balls to speak the truth of the appalling state of our streets and a two-tier policing system that leaves Jewish community in fear for their lives and safety.”
Is it possible to remove Rishi Sunak from his position as prime minister of the UK?
If 15% of Rishi Sunak’s MPs sent letters expressing their desire for a leadership change, the Conservative Party would put to a vote of confidence in him.
What led to Rishi Sunak’s no-confidence letter sent?
In a reorganization brought about by his dismissal of Suella Braverman for her criticism of the police, Rishi Sunak reinstated former British prime leader David Cameron as foreign minister.
The governing Conservatives and opposition MPs began to criticize Suella Braverman more and more, which led to a ministry reorganization. Suella Braverman, a notorious Indian-origin woman, disobeyed the UK premier last week by claiming in an unapproved essay that police used “double standards” to protesters, treating right-wing protestors harshly while being kind toward pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
Therese Coffey, the UK’s environment minister, resigned as well as former health secretary Steve Barclay, stating in a letter that it was time to “step back.” Under Steve Barclay, Victoria Atkins took over as head of the Department of Health. Greg Hands replaced as party chairman by Richard Holden.
