The Short Lived Uprising:Putin Suppressed Russia Rebellion within Hours

Russia Rebellion : On the morning of June 24, residents of Rostov-on-Don, Russia looked out of their windows, they saw mercenaries driving tanks down the streets. They were the soldiers of the Wagner Group. A rebellion was started by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a mercenary warlord. Despite being a close acquaintance of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Prigozhin’s harsh criticism of Russian Military Defense for almost a year consequently resulted in an attempt of mutiny against Putin.

Demands

Prigozhin posted a video on Saturday and demanded a meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Russia’s top general, Valery Gerasimov. At the Southern Military Headquarters, located in Rostov-on-Don, which was usurped by him along with his mercenaries. Furthermore addressing his foe, Shoigu, a craven PR man and an old oligarch who had never held a weapon in his life. He called the Ukrainian war an attempt to receive the “Hero of Russia” medal.Hence the rebellion was started.

He also accused the Defense Minister of bombing Wagner camps in Donbas and killing his forces intentionally. The coup and taking over of two cities, Rostov and Voronezh. With no resistance from Russian forces, was his revenge. However if the Defense Minister and General Valery were not removed from their posts, Wagner Chief declared to march towards Moscow with his 25000 soldiers.

Therefore by afternoon, the mutineers were en route to invading Moscow. Halfway through the route, the convoy was bombarded by Russia’s attack helicopter. Respite that the Wagner’s retaliated. Mercenaries shot down the attack helicopter Ka-52. Around 15 Russian personnel passed away in the violence. Convey continues northward.

Conclusion

At 8 p.m., Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko announced the end of the Mutiny after the negotiations held by him. The rebellion lasted for less than 24 hours. Progozhin confirmed while stating his followers didn’t want any bloodshed and informed them that they would return to field camp in Ukraine and agreed to leave Russia for Belarus. The Kremlin spokesperson, Peskov, said no “legal action” will be taken against the troops, and personnel will sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
