Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a hundred students of Eklavya Adarsh residential hostel fell ill altogether late at night on Monday. They were immediately admitted to Victoria Hospital, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh)r. After that, the condition of all the students became stable.

According to district health officials, the incident happened at the Eklavya Tribal Hostel. The children began to experience vomiting and other symptoms of food poisoning shortly after eating the meal they were taken to local hospitals where they are being treated for dehydration and other complications.

Collector Saurabh Suman said, “All the kids are out of danger. It appears they ate some vegetables after which they fell ill. Samples have been sent for tests.” Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) Dr Sanjay Mishra said that 34 kids are admitted to Victoria Hospital, 17 to the medical college, and 11 are in two private hospitals. “All of them are below 18 years of age. Prima facie, appears to be a case of food poisoning. They had taken food at the hostel,” he said. The tribal welfare department runs the hostel.

The cause of the food poisoning is still under investigation but officials believe it may have been caused by contamination of the food sample of the food has been sent to a lab for tasting.

The incident has sparked outrage among the children’s families, who have accused the hostel administration of negligence. They say that the children have been served poor-quality food in the past and that complaints to the administration have gone unheeded. District officials have ordered an investigation into the incident.
