Covid-19 -Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from common cold to more severe diseases Middle East Respiratory Syndrome(MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus(nCoV) is a new strain not identified before in humans.

Coronaviruses are transmitted between humans and animals.

Common types of symptoms include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing problems.

In more severe cases, symptoms include pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Diagnosis Of Covid-19


1.Molecular Assays

Firstly,Covid19 can be diagnosed by molecular assays in samples from upper respiratory tract collected – nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal and from lower respiratory tract by sputum , endotracheal aspirate , bronchoalveolar lavage in patients with more severe respiratory diseases.

2.Serology Tests

Secondly, These are blood based tests used to identify people with covid-19 by looking at their immune response.

Management Of Covid19


Firstly, People infected with covid19 must receive supportive care to help relieve symptoms. Also, for severe cases, treatment should include care to support vital organ functions.

If people think they have covid19, must take precautionary measures to prevent further transmission of infection and if symptoms appear, they should contact their healthcare provider immediately.

Prevention Of Covid19


1.Firstly,Wash your hands with soap and water for atleast 20 seconds. Use an 60% alcohol containing hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

2.Avoid touching your eyes ,nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

3.Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

4.Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash.

5.Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

6.Maintain atleast 3 feet distance between yourself and other people.

7.Wear face coverings in public .

8.Also,start home and self-isolate even with minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, until you recover.

9.Lastly,If you have fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical attention.
