If you travel long distances by mail/express or AC train, your fare may become a little expensive starting July 1, 2025. But there will be no change for passengers traveling by local train daily. The Railway Ministry will increase the fares of AC as well as non-AC trains, which can be implemented from July 1, 2025.

Non-AC train class fares in mail/express trains will be increased by 1 paisa per kilometer. Fares of all AC classes (AC First, Second, Third) will increase by 2 paisa per kilometer. There will be no increase up to 500 km. For distances beyond 500 km, the fare can be increased by half a paisa per kilometer. However, suburban trains will not increase their fares, considering the convenience of monthly passes and daily commuters.
A railway official said the current hike will be the lowest compared to the previous fare revisions in 2020 and 2013. Earlier, train fares were increased on a per km basis on January 1, 2020. Then, second-class fares for ordinary and mail/express trains were increased by 1 paisa and 2 paisa, respectively, while sleeper class and all AC classes were increased by 2 paisa and 4 paisa, respectively.
In order to provide real-time, reliable, and accessible railway services to devotees planning to attend the Rath Yatra in Puri, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Tuesday launched a mobile app called ‘ECoR Yatra’. The Android-based app, available on the Google Play Store, provides a comprehensive digital guide to all rail-related services and passenger amenities during the festival.
