Kamal Nath wrote a letter to the Chief Minister raising the issue of grabbing tribal lands in Chhindwara. He accused the land mafia and the administration of collusion. Referring to the lands being converted into colonies and sham deals, he demanded strict action like the Budhni model.

Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath is preparing to stir up the politics of Madhya Pradesh once again. On the issue of grabbing the land of tribals in his home district Chhindwara, Kamal Nath has written an open letter to the Chief Minister of the state Dr. Mohan Yadav, and not only targeted the land mafia, but has also directly accused the district administration of collusion.
Kamal Nath has written in the letter that Chhindwara is a tribal-dominated district, where areas like Jamai, Tamia, Harrai, Amarwara, Bichhua and Pandhurna are the identity of tribal culture, but now organized land mafia network has become active in these areas, which is engaged in buying the lands of tribals at throw-away prices, making fake contracts and later getting them transferred and registering them in the name of non-tribals.
Kamal Nath has directly alleged that the role of the district administration in this entire matter is suspicious. He said that the silence of the administration in some cases indicates that the administration is either a mute spectator or a participant in this conspiracy.
The former CM says that the lands on which tribal farmers once grew crops, today walls of residential colonies are being built there. The tribal community is being deprived of their rights and evicted in the name of development.
