A chargesheet was filed on Wednesday against 22 accused, including SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq and Jama Masjid Sadar Zafar Ali Advocate, in the violence that took place on 24 November 2024 in protest against the survey of Jama Masjid. Whereas, MLA Iqbal Mahmood’s son Suhail Iqbal has been given a clean chit. In the nearly 1,100-page chargesheet, the MP has been accused of inciting people to violence and of instigating Zafar Ali, along with presenting false evidence before the police.

Four people were killed in the violence. 30 officers and policemen were injured. Seven FIRs were registered by the police in the violence. Four FIRs were lodged by the relatives of the deceased and one FIR was lodged by the relatives of the injured. Charge sheets have already been filed in 10 of the 12 cases.
In a case filed by the police, the MP and MLA’s son were named, and 700-800 unknown people were named. The head of the mosque committee was arrested after his name came up during the investigation. The MP is on a stay order from the High Court regarding his arrest. He was questioned by the police for four hours on April 8.
SP Krishna Kumar Bishnoi said that a chargesheet will soon be filed in another case as well. On November 19, 2024, a suit was filed in the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) that the mosque was a Hari Har Mandir. The court appointed advocate Ramesh Raghav as advocate commissioner on the same day. The advocate commissioner surveyed on the same day.
