The National Commission for Women has submitted its investigation report to the Governor and the Chief Minister regarding the love jihad cases involving college students in the capital. The Commission has described these incidents as not merely individual but part of an organized conspiracy. The report states that the accused pressured the victims to convert and expressed the possibility of an organized network or funding behind them.
It has been made mandatory for all colleges to ensure compliance with POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) rules and report it to the administration. Instructions have been given to train internal complaint committees. Helpline numbers and email IDs should be displayed in the institutions.
The report said that the arrested accused were luring the female students into love traps by luring them with expensive gifts, branded clothes and bikes. While their family financial condition was found to be poor, their lifestyle was extremely luxurious. This indicates the possibility of organised crime, especially drug trafficking or other funding sources.
