Ira Khan spoke about how Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta divorce affected her and opened up about her experience with mental illness. Actor Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan, opened up about her battle with depression a few years ago via a series of social media posts. Ira was diagnosed with clinical depression over five years ago. She has now opened up about the support she received from her father Aamir, and said that her family has a history of mental health issues.

Ira Khan recently launched the Agastu foundation in an attempt at providing mental health support. In an interview with The Times of India, Ira said that Aamir and her mother Reena Dutta are on the advisory board of the foundation, and added that he helped in setting it up until she got the right funding.
When asked about her experience, Ira said that she noticed changes in her behavior, such as long bouts of crying, feeling sad, and on one occasion, not eating for four days. She realized something was wrong. Although Aamir’s divorce from Reena Dutta was amicable and didn’t affect her much, she still sensed that something was off and decided to come back to India from the Netherlands, where she was studying.
