Further Directions

NGT directed the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to collect the fine from the Municipal Corporation for permitting the floating restaurant. This amount will be used to reimburse the environmental damage that occurred by floating restaurants. For this, Pillars and structures will be removed from the site. Afterwards, the construction site will be filled with soil. Subsequently, plants will be planted there to restore environmental damage caused by the floating restaurant project.

Why Fine?

Regarding this Project, the MP tourism department has only permission from the Municipal Corporation.

Whereas, NGT damned the Secretary of the MP Tourism Department and ordered on 21st March during the hearing of the plea, to stop the further construction. Despite that, the Municipal Corporation permitted the Tourism Department to build a floating restaurant on the upper lake.

Place of Construction

The floating restaurant was being built, 600 m away from the main gate of Van Vihar, in front of the musical fountain. This was to be built in a 19,000 sq m area. For construction along with a lot of wild bushes, 2 dozen plants have been cut. Currently, 5 pillars are standing on the site.
